That's the whole point of why I'm interested, that they are now covering accidents.

Also with laptops, repairs are seldom cheap or easy.  Damage to the motherboard or screen (both of which are common in my experience) cost more to fix than to replace the machine after 1 yr.

I don't know that it'd be more than the cost of the machine, but it'd probably be more than the value of it after a year.

Maybe try calling Dell's meatspace order line, and see if they'll sell you the insurance that way.
